- A CURRENT controlled version has a stable canonical URL.
- Historical versions remain retrievable at immutable version URLs once published.
- A new version never silently overwrites the historical record.
- Supersession is explicit in both directions: a document names what it supersedes and what supersedes it.
- One deterministic document ID and version scheme is chosen before the first CURRENT normative publication.
